Spirit of America
I never really had a close tie to the U.S. military. Both of my grandfathers served, but neither really talked much about their time and devotion to our great country. I can't imagine what a family goes through when a loved one decides to answer the call of duty. Pride and fear first come to mind. This weekend, I took Matthew to see the U.S. Army's Spirit of America at Nationwide Arena. It was his first time watching the Army's ceremonial units perform. We also witnessed about a hundred young men and women take the oath to become the newest members of the U.S. Army. With determination on their faces, and pride in their eyes, those recruits made the ultimate sacrifice to serve their country. That made me extra proud to be an American, especially sharing that special moment with my son.
